Wistful Palindrome

and here we are
through it all
your pale heart above
my nebulous form below cradled by
an eternity unforgiving
but i have always known
you would come
why
i can only imagine
you turned
and in that instant
light twists and roils
blooming through our core
i feel your whisper of devotion
on the wind
when you could have escaped
into the shadows
never looking back
you struggle to pull me from the depths
stretching through time
the eons swallow your sacrifice
down down down
my mountains crumbling
my heart heavy
unable to see the stars
once more
lulled to sleep
forever in paracausal suspense
and wonder
as the universe can only look on
i cling to you
delicately poised
a precipice ready
and there we were
